First Open FT Award for Gavin

Gavin continued his success during the 2025/26 season being award a COM at the London Working Spaniel Society's Open AV Field Trial held at Fallow Hall, St Osyth. Although he has successfully completed two Opens previously this was his first Open Award.

Congratulations Dora & Steve

Congratulations to Dora & Steve on taking 1st place at the Cambridgeshire Field Trial Society's Open AV Trial held at Manor Farm, Norfolk on 25th November 2025.

This win means that Dora has now qualified for her 3rd Championships which this year are being held on the Dalhousie Estate, Invermark in January 2026.

A Novice FT win for Gavin

Tracey and Gavin travelled to Knole Park in Kent for their second novice field trial of the 25/26 season. Running at no 9, their first run was in bramble. Gavin hunted fast and hard, with a contact flush on a pheasant. Eventually called across to the other side for a retrieve which he completed without any fuss. First run completed. His second run was in bird cover. Hunting fast and hard on a back wind, a loose bird lifted and was shot. Gavin was sent. As he reached the fall, a bird lifted and flew. It wasn't the shot bird. Gavin was stopped and re-directed back to the original fall. A couple of stops and redirects and he picked the bird. Trial completed. Only five dogs completed the trial, with all five dogs featuring in the awards. Much to their delight, Gavin was awarded 1st place along with Guns' Choice receiving a trophy and silver salver. Now for Opens ...... where he will be competing alongside his mother Dora, and sister Tash.

Exciting News - Litter of Puppies

FTCH Ddraighelwyr Blaidd ex FTCH Shiveck Piccolo at Nossewej

We are excited to announce the safe arrival of puppies following the successful mating between Dora (FTCH Shiveck Piccolo at Nossewej) and Bailey (FTCH Ddraighelwyr Blaidd). Dora has qualified for the Championships twice, and Bailey has qualifed three times. He was top dog at the 2023 Championships.

The pups were born on 8th May 2025 and are all thriving with Dora being the perfect mum.

This is Dora's second litter; her first litter born in June 2021, with our own dog, Marbles (OFTAW Nossewej Lost My Marbles) has produced some great progeny. One daughter, FTCH Nossewej Fantine of Purlodge, has qualified for the Championships for the last two seasons, being awarded her Champion status in 2024. Her son, Nossewej Javert, has been placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th in a number of Novice Field Trials over the past two years, and we are hoping for win during the 2025/26 season.

FTCH Nossewej Fantine ....

Congra tulations to Ray Clark and Tash aka Nossewej Fantine of Purlodge on winning two Open stakes in 2024 and achieving FTCH status. They competed at the English Springer Spaniel Championships, but unfortunately there were put out on their first run.

Tash is the first Nossewej bred FTCH, but hopefully not the last!

Eastern Counties Spaniel Society All Aged A/V FT - 9 January 2024

FTAW Nossewej Javert ....

Tracey entered the Eastern Counties Spaniel Society All Aged AV FT on Tuesday 9 January 2024 held at Shotesham St Mary, Norfolk with Gavin aka Nossewej Javert. The judges on the day were Alex Hayes and Steve Lewis.

His first run was started at the bottom of a dip and was a little stop/start as dogs were changed and the other side wheeled around. They hunted up the bank on leaf mulch with Gavin under control. At the top of the bank they reached thick bramble with rides cut through. A bird shot for the other side landed close to Gavin, flapping, but he held his position while the other dog retrieved. Hunting on, the dog on the other side had an AWOL moment, so he was held up again. Gavin was hitting the bramble hard, a loose bird was shot and Tracey told to send Gavin on the retrieve. He headed straight into the bramble, flushing another two birds. He stopped lovely to the flush, before continuing on the retrieve. He made it to the fall of the bird, then took a line. The cock bird then ran across a ride back into thick bramble followed closely by Gavin. He tracked the bird and retrieved to hand. Hunted on to finish the patch of bramble; first run completed.

His second run was in a fairly bare patch wood with a nice hedge to the right hand side flanked by a field. He had a fairly quick flush fromthe hedge which the gun shot out on the field. Sent immediately for the retrieve, he brought back nicely to h and. hunted on a very short while, another flush and once again shot out on the field. Sent again, and a straightforward retrieve. Second run completed.

He was awarded 3rd place behind an Open winning cocker.

His future continues to look bright

Eastern Counties Spaniel Society Novice A/V FT - 1 November 2023

FTAW Nossewej Javert ....

Tracey entered the Eastern Counties Spaniel Society Novice AV FT on Wednesday 1 November 2023 held at Grundisburgh, Suffolk with Gavin aka Nossewej Javert. The judges on the day were Brian Wade, Dave Templar, David Gosling and Andrea Perrett. Gavin was running at number 5.

His first run was in white grass alongside a ditch. He had a long hunt and was eventually pulled up by the judges without either a flush or retrieve but made it through to the second run. His second run was in the woods. At the start of the run, he had a pretty bare bit of ground, but he hunted with pace and stayed under control. They eventually hit thick bramble and he had a lovely contact flush on two pheasants. Unfortunately they were not shot. He hunted on, but again was pulled up by the judges without a retrieve. However, they told Tracey to stay in line as they hoped to get him a spare bird to retrieve. They stayed in line until almost the end of the trial, when two birds were shot. She was called forward, and Gavin waited off lead while the other dog did the first retrieve. Tracey was given the mark, and sent Gavin. She stopped him and pushed him on twice and it was great to see him achieve the retrieve on a hen bird.

The judges deliberated over their books and two dogs were called forward for a run off; numbers 3 and 5. The judges asked both competitors to hunt their dogs, and after a short hunt were pulled up. Trial over.

It turned out that the run off was for 2nd and 3rd place, with Tracey & Gavin just missing out on 2nd. They were awarded 3rd place and Guns' Choice, although apparently Wendy's apple cake ran them close for that award!

A great start to the season :-)

Leconfield Working Spaniel Club Novice Test - 26 March 2023

A win for Gavin .......

The Leconfield Working Spaniel Club held their Spring Novice and Open Working Tests at Bignor Park, West Sussex on 26 March 2023. The judges were Martin Ashman and Tommy Giles.

Tracey & Gavin travelled the 100 miles to compete in the Novice Working Test. Running at number 11, Tracey was pleased with both his runs and knew he had gone well. It was still a lovely surprise when Nossewej Javert was declared the winner it was also a good day for his brother Roche aka Nossewej Gavroche of Abbeyoaks who took 4th in the novice and was awarded a COM in the Open with Wendy Knight

2022/3 AV Spaniel Championships (ex cockers)

First time at the Championships for both Steve & Dora (OFTW Shiveck Piccolo at Nossewej

Well what an experience and journey Dora (OFTW Shiveck Piccolo at Nossewej) and Steve have had during the 2022/23 trialling season. They achieved 4th at the Mid Sussex open, a COM at the Coventry open, and 2nd place with the Leconsfield after a run off against Terry Siwek with FTCH Shiveck Time Twiddler, eventually gaining their first open win with the London Working Spaniel Society in November to qualify for this year’s Spaniel Championship at Invermark, Scotland (a 9 1/2 hour drive!). This was a first for Steve as well as Dora. What a fantastic experience and memory the last week has been.

Their time at the Championship was a fantastic experience with some great memories being made.

Dora went in at number 3 and made a great job of hunting in grass. She indicated and pulled uphill with Steve following. He let her work then pipped her off and cast her off to his right. Unfortunately as she went to the right a pheasant lifted off, and was deemed as missing game, so unfortunately their championship was over.

So proud of Dora in getting Steve to the championship for hisfirst time and competing against the best dogs and handlers in the country.

A huge thank you to Terri Siwek for transporting Steve and Dora back and forth to the ground.

Now it's back to reality and training with the aim of qualifying for the 2023/24 Championships!

And the winner is ..........

After coming 2nd on 15th November 2022 at Arundel, Steve and Dora headed over to Kent to compete in the London Working Spaniel Society's Open A/V (Exc Cockers) Field Trial. They had two good runs and Dora completed three excellent retrieves.

After a short wait whilst the judges compared their books, we are very pleased to announce that Steve and Dora were awarded their first Open win. They have now qualified to run in the Championships in January 2023. This involves a very short 9 hour drive to Invermark, Scotland!

Run Off for Dora ....

A 4.30am alarm call meant an early start to the day for Steve & Dora as they hit the road in horrible rainy conditions to compete in the Leconfield Working Spaniel Club’s Open A/V Stake held at the Peppering Shoot, Norfolk Estate, Arundel by kind permission of His Grace, The Duke of Norfolk. The weather was testing both windy and rainy, and the ground was mixed with strips of cover crop, woodland and bramble. There was plenty of game, both birds and hares. The guns shot well and after a retrieve on a loose bird and flushed bird on her first run, Dora had a hare flush and retrieve on her second run.

After the judges had compared their books Steve and Terri Siwek with her FTCH Shiveck Time Twiddler were called forward for a run off, and Terri was awarded the win with Dora taking 2nd place so proud of Dora three of her litter mates were also awarded COM’s - a good day for the Shiveck kennels taking 5 awards

Steve & Dora travelled 3 hours and 178 miles to Wentworth Park, Rotherham on 15 October 2022 to compete in the Coventry & District Gundog Club’s Open A/V Spaniel Field Trial. Mid Sussex Working Spaniel Club Open A/V Spaniel Trial

4th place for Dora ....

Steve and Dora travelled to Holride Farm in Surrey to compete in the Mid Sussex Working Spaniel Club Open A/V Spaniel Field Trial. The ground was thick brambles and all the dogs had to work hard. Dora finished 4th behind her litter sister in 3rd. The trial was won by a bitch that was of the same breeding as Dora but from the previous litter.

A very promising start to the season.

Secure one acre pen ....

We are pleased to report that we have recently obtained a new training ground based near Hatfield Peverel/Ulting in Essex. We have a secure one acre pen situated in twenty acres. There is a variety of cover within the pen which is great for training dogs.

Chubba's first field trial award ....

Tracey and Chubba travelled to Shotesham St Mary, Norfolk to compete in the Eastern Counties Spaniel Society All Aged A/V Spaniel Trial. There was no time to settle in as Chubba had been drawn at No 2. He had a good first run with two pheasant flushes and one great retrieve. There was to be no retrieve on his second run but he did have his first ever muntjac flush and another pheasant flush. He had completed the trial, and the icing on the cake was being awarded a Certificate of Merit; his first ever field trial award.

Dora receives an award .....

Steve and Dora travelled to Flitwick on 3 November 2021 to compete in the Chiltern Gundog Society Open A/V Spaniel (exc cockers) Field Trial. It was her first trial in the 2021/22 season. A tough trial saw her being awarded with a Certificate of Merit; her first Open Field Trial Award.

An award for LB ...

LB (Nossewej Bonkers Bob) came out of retirement today to go on a road trip with Chubba (Moonreed Bullet at Nossewej) to Hawkhurst in Kent to compete in the Kennel Club Novice ESS Field Trial. Unfortunately Chubba failed on a retrieve on his first run but LB did me proud completing both runs. Not as fit as he should be, but I wasn’t expecting to be running him in trials this year, he still finished his second run with a great retrieve on a running partridge. He finished with third place; not bad for 7 years and 5 months old!!

Arrived safely - the Adorables

We are pleased to report that the 'Adorables' arrived safely just over two weeks ago. Mum and pups are all progressing well, and we are looking forward to seeing how this litter progresses over the next few months.

Awaiting pups ... 5 days & counting ...

Dora (FTW Shiveck Piccolo at Nossewej) has entered the maternity ward in expectation of whelping her pups in five days time. The sire is our own Marbles (OFTAW Nossewej Lost My Marbles) and we are excited for the pups being born. We intend to keep back one bitch, and it is our hope that the other pups will all go to trialling homes. Watch this space for updates!

Leconfield Working Spaniel Club Novice & Open Tests - 23 May 2021

LB achieves 1st in the Open ...

The Leconfi eld Working Spaniel Club held their Spring Novice and Open Working Tests at Cranleigh, Surrey on 23 May 2021. The judges were Geoff Devine-Jones and Lenny Wingfield.

Tracey made the 180 mile round trip to run Chubba (Moonreed Bullet at Nossewej) in the Novice and LB (Nossewej Bonkers Bob) in the Open. Both dogs had two good runs.

Chubba, once again featured in the awards, achieving a Certificate of Merit, whilst LB took 1st place in the Open. Another great day for Nossewej Gundogs!

London Working Spaniel Society - Woburn Open Test - 1 May 2021

A win for Dora and COM for Marbles .......

The London Working Spaniel Society held a Novice and Open Working Test at Woburn on 1 May 2021. The judges were Gerry Meehan and John Robertson.

Steve entered Dora (Shiveck Piccolo at Nossewej) and Marbles (Nossewej Lost My Marbles) into the Open test. Due to Covid-19 during 2020/21 this was only Dora's second ever competition, and first working test. We're pleased to say she has maintained her 100% record by taking 1st place! Marbles also achieved a Certificate of Merit. Overall a great day for Nossewej Gundogs.

London Working Spaniel Society Novice Test - Grundisburgh - 11 April 2021

4th place for Chubba ...

The London Working Spaniel Society ran Novice & Open Tests on 11 April 2021 at Grundisburgh, Suffolk. The judges were Julie Cracknell and Richard Bunyan.

Tracey ran Chubba (Moonreed Bullet at Nossewej) in the Novice and LB (Nossewej Bonkers Bob) in the Open. She had mixed fortunes with both dogs. A great result for Chubba in the Novice achieving 4th place at his first attempt. Unfortunately LB didn't fare so well, and left empty handed.
